Situated at the foot of the green hill on which stands the imposing ancient town of Cortona, near Arezzo, hillside Villa Torre Montalla enjoys magnificent views that open onto the wide valley towards the nearby Lake Trasimeno, and the conical tops of the mountains Amiata and Cetona further south bordering Umbria and Lazio.
Torre Montalla, as the name suggests, is an old stone tower house recently renovated and converted into a comfortable holiday home with private pool.
Internally the house is tastefully decorated in typical Tuscan style and equipped with modern comforts.
Shaded by mature trees, the large garden offers splendid views of the surrounding countryside, a vine-covered area for shady outdoor eating, and an inviting private swimming pool (4 x 11 mt) fenced and available from May through October, while the large outbuildings house a barbecue and provide a welcome shaded parking.
Services of all kinds including restaurants, bars and supermarkets are available in the close small towns of Camucia and Cortona respectively at 2 and 3 km.
Within just 5 minutes’ drive, on a hill about 600 meters above sea level, lies Cortona, a small cosmopolitan city of Etruscan origin enclosed by ancient walls within which you live a unique and mystical atmosphere through medieval street and squares with excellent restaurants and stylish shops.
The views over the extensive valley below towards the lake Trasimeno are simply breathtaking.
Cortona is also the place where the American romantic comedy drama film “Under the Tuscan sun” was shot in 2003, and Torre Montalla precisely adjoins the house where part of the movie took place.
As it was for the Etruscans, the town still is in a strategic location that allows, with brief trips to reach important artistic and cultural centers of both Tuscany and all central Italy.
